How We Remember

How We Remember focuses on the cultural and natural objects left as impromptu tributes at gravesites and roadside memorials. These sites, both personal and public, sit at the intersection of memory, mourning, and meaning.

I document offerings like flowers, feathers, crosses, and everyday items, examining how ordinary objects become symbols. The tributes are both personal and universal, and intimate yet anonymous. The objects speak to the human need to remember what is lost and to connect with what is beyond. They give shape to our emotions and try to make sense of the intangible through the material.

This work highlights the interplay of personal narrative and cultural ritual. The photographs are not only records but invitations for reflection - on how we mark absence, how we remember, and the stories we leave behind.
